This project was one of the most demanding and rewarding refurbishments we’ve completed in recent years. The flat, located in the heart of Pimlico near Victoria, required a complete transformation — from structural alterations to the final decorative touches. What began as a dark, dated, and divided apartment is now a bright, modern home with a completely reimagined layout and atmosphere.
Demolition and Structural Alterations
We started by completely stripping out the existing interior — removing internal walls, ceilings, and the old chimney structure. Because the layout was tight and the ceilings were low, the job required precision and experience. New steel beams were installed to support the modified structure, opening up the space and allowing for better light flow throughout the flat.
Ceilings and Walls
All ceilings were rebuilt with new timber framing and fitted with acoustic insulation to reduce noise between floors. We then installed fire-rated plasterboards for safety and durability. Old cracked walls were reinforced with plaster mesh before being re-plastered to achieve a perfectly smooth finish.
Floors and Finishing
The floors in this flat had seen better days — uneven, creaky, and far from level. We stripped everything back, adjusted the subfloor, and added new plywood to make the structure solid again. Once the base was right, we installed beautiful parquet flooring throughout. The difference was immediate — the new floor completely changed the feel of the apartment, adding warmth and a sense of craftsmanship that ties the rooms together.
Bathroom Renovation
The bathroom was rebuilt from scratch. We started with new plumbing, waterproofing, and the installation of a SaniFlo system to suit the layout of the flat. Then came the tiling — carefully chosen for both style and practicality. Every corner was finished by hand to ensure perfect alignment. What used to be a tired, cramped space is now a bright, modern shower room that feels fresh, comfortable, and built to last.
Joinery and Decoration
Once the main construction work was done, we focused on the details that make a home feel complete. We fitted new skirting boards, ceiling covings, and cornices to bring back some of the property’s original charm. Every wall and ceiling was repaired, primed, and painted with care. We finished off by fitting a new entrance door and adding those last touches that make the whole place feel brand new — but still unmistakably London in character.
Fireplace Feature
One of the highlights of the living room is the new stone fireplace we designed and built. It adds warmth and a strong focal point to the space while keeping the classic feel of the original building intact.
Note: Stone kitchen countertops were installed by another contractor, but our team prepared and finished the surrounding kitchen area to ensure everything fitted seamlessly.
This refurbishment was far from simple — it involved careful coordination, technical precision, and a lot of creativity. But the result speaks for itself. What was once a cramped, low-ceilinged flat has become a spacious, elegant London apartment full of light and character.
Today, this property in Pimlico / Victoria stands as a great example of what can be achieved through thoughtful design, solid craftsmanship, and a commitment to doing things properly from start to finish.
